“I have experienced the painful reality of racism, but, racism has also experienced me!  I am willing to challenge it constructively”

One of my achievements is my desire to keep on evolving into the best version of me and addressing issues that limit me personally and professionally.

Regarding, Hope Place, I love the stories of people who have successfully navigated complicated HR processes; they can now enjoy their lives, and families again.  Or, positive feedback from people on the blog or social media posts. The feedback on the YouTube channel has been overwhelmingly positive. So, I would say transformed lives.

Undoubtedly, there are difficulties, peaks, and troughs.  I have experienced the painful reality of racism, but, racism has also experienced me!  I am willing to challenge it constructively in conversations such as ‘I am not sure if you are aware, but this is how your behaviour could be perceived’ through to putting pen to paper.  I also have a circle of friends; I can express myself to who give me wise counsel, including what I can do better.

I would say to everyone write your personal mission statement out, be clear about your standards, values, and deal-breakers.  Ensure that your mission statement is a heart lived, and head directed reality in your everyday life.  When racism or any other form of mistreatment comes, and it will – you will be better prepared to address issues in a way that your future self will thank you.

Remember, Michelle Obama said, they go low we go high.
